The role of the Holy Ghost is very important in the life of the believer. We draw strength from Him when we are weak in our faith. He gives us comfort when we are in distress. Without the Holy Ghost we could not be saved or excel in our faith and we all know that without faith it is impossible to please God.

Hebrews 11:6, "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

I also believe to achieve great faith, praying with the help of the Holy Ghost is a factor. Now, I didn’t say it was the only factor, but a factor. Hearing the Word preached is The Major Factor in achieving great faith.

When we pray, with the help of the Holy Ghost, we are not only releasing faith we already have, we are building ourselves up in faith. Jude 1:20 says, "But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost."

Our Heavenly Language

Another thing we need to remember is praying to God in our heavenly language is like having our own private line directly to the Throne of God. If we reach His Throne, we will get the answer we need. 1st John 5:15, "And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him."

When we don’t know how to pray

The Holy Ghost prays for us:

Romans 8:26, "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."

Many times we don’t know how to pray? Either we lack the wisdom of God’s Will or we are just so overwhelmed we can’t pray in complete faith. That’s when we need to allow the Holy Ghost to pray for us, He will get the job done and the much needed answer will be delivered.

When we don’t know what to say.

The Holy Ghost will tell us what to say:

Luke 12:12, "For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say."

Let’s say someone walks up to you and asks you a question of vital importance. Perhaps it’s a biblical question or a common sense question that someone needs the answer to. Maybe it’s a life and death question. Whatever the severity of the question, the Holy Ghost will give the answer you need.

We don’t have to be overthrown in our wisdom. We can be confident that what we need to say will be given to us by the Spirit. And, what we say sometimes can be very important to someone who is searching for answers.

The Holy Ghost is a Comforter:

John 14:26, "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

Just as I said in the opening paragraph of this article, the Holy Ghost is our Comforter. At times in my life I have felt so discouraged that I wanted to give up but each time, when I thought it was all over but the crying, as we say in Virginia, the Holy Ghost would come to my rescue. He has never let me down and He will never let you down. So if you need comfort allow the Holy Ghost to bring comfort to your stressful spirit!

The Holy Ghost gives power:

Acts 1:8, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

Are you in need of power to overcome some tormenting thing in your life? Have you prayed and prayed to be delivered and just can’t seem to be set free. After you receive the Holy Ghost you will be able to handle life’s problems in a more victorious way. Your mind will be clear and your spirit will be peaceful. You can be more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you. (Romans 8:37)

The Holy Ghost will bring boldness:

Acts 4:31, "And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness."

God will not use a cowardly Christian. That is why He gives boldness to do His work. If you are lacking boldness in your Christian walk allow the Holy Ghost to fill you with the boldness you need, not only to overcome your own problems, but to help others overcome theirs. And, by helping others you will be doing the work of the Lord.

The Holy Ghost speaks.

Acts 13:2, "As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them."

Often one of the gifts of the Holy Ghost is used to speak to someone concerning a specific work they will be doing for the Lord. Maybe you are drawn to a certain church to preach a revival or share your testimony. You already feel it in your heart and are awaiting confirmation. God will send you confirmation and oftentimes He does use one of the gifts of the Holy Ghost. He may use the gift of tongues and the interpretation for example. Or He may choose to use the gift of prophecy.

A Word of Caution:

Be cautious of those that would try to mislead you in your faith. Many think God is speaking to them when it is evident that He isn't. God will never go against His Word so if someone comes up to you and tells you that God told them something about you or something you must do, make sure that it bares witness with your spirit, and make certain it lines up with the Word of God.

Conclusion:

The Holy Ghost is vitally important to our Christian walk. He leads, guides, teaches, and comforts. Receive His glorious presence today.
